CyberLink YouCam 3 Readme
04/07/2009
Thank you for using CyberLink YouCam. This file contains the latest
information regarding the CyberLink YouCam 3.0 program. Before you begin using
CyberLink YouCam, please read this document in detail for the latest technical
information.
This Readme is divided into the following sections:
CyberLink YouCam is a software solution for webcam users.
The dual-mode user interface design makes CyberLink YouCam easy and fun to
use. In the IM (Instant Messaging) mode, you can participate in a video webcam
session with your friends, while applying instant effects in real-time. The
instant effects let you add hats, masks, scene environments, frames, avatars,
filters, distortions and emotion effects on your webcam video. This allows you
to enhance the video with these fun and creative webcam effects.
When you switch from the IM mode to the Stand Alone mode, you can also apply
the effects while recording your own video with your webcam. You can also take
single or multiple snapshots that include beautiful frames or enhance them with
the inclusion of emotion effects. You can then send the captured videos and
photos as e-mail attachments to your friends and family. You can even upload
captured video to YouTube®, or capture photos and videos to Facebook®, directly
from within the program. Now you can be the superstar on the world’s largest
video sharing web site.
To bring you superior webcam experience, CyberLink YouCam now supports
high-definition resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.
CyberLink YouCam also lets you expand its effects capability. You can
download additional effects from the DirectorZone web site, and then import them
into CyberLink YouCam. With CyberLink YouCam, your creativity is unlimited.
Please use the online registration to register your software. You must
register the software before receiving customer support service and product
information.
- Before installing CyberLink YouCam, check your system resources in
order to obtain optimal performance. When installing on Intel Atom or similar
level platform, CyberLink YouCam will auto-detect and provide optimized
performance settings.
- If you are running any anti-virus or anti-spyware utilities, you
must allow CyberLink YouCam to register itself or some information may be
missing.
- In order to avoid compatibility issues, close all other software
and utility applications, including virus scanners and instant messaging
software, during installation.
- You must completely shut down (not only hide in the system tray) your
instant messaging software, such as Windows Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL
Instant Messenger, or Skype, before you can proceed with the installation.
This is to allow CyberLink YouCam to properly install the video communication
service that is necessary to enable the video effects during video webcam
sessions.
- You will need to register a YouTube account before you are able to
upload a video to YouTube. You must adhere to all copyright terms as
specified by YouTube. You are advised to check the copyright status of the
video, and any included music, that you are about to upload to YouTube.
Neither YouTube nor CyberLink is responsible for the video content you
uploaded to YouTube.
- You will need to sign up a Facebook before you are able to upload a
media to Facebook. You must adhere to all copyright terms as specified by
Facebook.
- When you use avatars, accessories, or the other face tracking features,
ensure the video size is above 320x240 and avoid a low light
environment. A video size of 320x240 or below is too small to track facial
features accurately. Within a low light environment, such as a dark room or
outdoors at night, most webcams drop their frame rates automatically, which
results in poor tracking.
- CyberLink YouCam's facial tracking ability may decline when you move
rapidly or move out of the webcam frame. When the facial tracking result
is lost (the face tracking does not sync with your actions), you can calibrate
by placing your face in the center of the webcam video frame and then look
straight at the webcam. CyberLink YouCam will automatically re-calibrate the
facial tracking.
- It is recommended that you have sufficient free hard drive space before
starting a timed video surveillance recording. If less than 100 MB of free
space remains, timed video surveillance recordings are automatically disabled.
If your hard drive is almost out of space during recording, a warning message
is displayed to notify you that the recording process is about to stop.
- During a time-lapse recording, audio is not recorded and the
time-lapse effect is only viewable after the capture is complete.
- The supported video capture resolution depends on the webcam device
you are using.
- Under higher resolutions (video capture resolution larger than
640x480), CyberLink YouCam supports the photo snapshot feature and AVI
video recording. However, it does not support the use of effects.
- Microsoft PowerPoint files with the extension PPTX, are not
supported in the IM sharing mode if Microsoft Office 2007 is not installed on
your system. However, if you are using Microsoft Office 2002/2003, you can
install a converter from Microsoft to view these files in the IM sharing mode.
